| Description | The house was built by William Wallace Girton. Mr. Girton was a member of the Normal School faculty from 1896-1914. In 1921, the State of SD acquired the house and lot to be used for dormitory purposes. It was then named Girton House. In 1924, it was the home of student nurses who were training at the Madison Hospital. From 1930-1933 it was used as a men's dormitory. In 1935, it was made into a home for the President of the College and was used for that purpose until 2009. |
