| Description | The law library shown here was housed in the original law building, established by the South Dakota Legislature in 1908. Plans for a new law library were initiated in 1949 with the arrival of George Townsend, the University's first full-time law librarian. Townsend, with the help of assistants, moved 20, 000 books from the old library to their new home in the McKusick Law Library, which was completed in May 1951. |
