NoteThis collection consists of 232 real photo postcards, black and white photographs, and postcards from the personal album of Palmer Sigvald Gilbertson during the period of 1900 to 1920. A student of The University of South Dakota from 1910 to 1913, Palmer Gilbertson along with his brother Carl Gilbertson, and other photographers provide a view into the daily life of a student at The University of South Dakota in the early 1900s. The 1913 Coyote yearbook states Palmer Gilbertson was "a slave to no one but his dog, " and continues: "Pilmer is noted for several reasons; first, on account of being a brother of Gillie, account of his dog "Stub"; and lastly on account of himself. He is an all around man in the true sense. Is a good fellow, student, gymnast, and pole-vaulter."
