St. Joseph Street • Rapid City, SD 57701- 3995 Phone: ( 605) 394- 6082/ 2554 • Fax: ( 605) 394- 6177 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ( February 24, 1998) SDSM& T DRAMA CLUB TO PRESENT ONE- ACT PLAYS SDSM& T's Drama Club will present this year's One Act Play Festival this Friday and Saturday at 8: 00 p. m. in the Surbeck Center Ballroom. The programs are free and open to the public. This year's line- up is composed entirely of comedies and is suitable content for all ages. Plays to be performed include the following: The Danes of Our Lives: Bill Shakespeare has died and gone to heaven. Looking down, he sees that his work is perhaps out of touch with modern society, so he proposes to re- write his greatest work, Hamlet, in a more modern genre: the soap- opera. The Nerd: This is a cutting of Larry Shue's classic play, reduced to a single act. Witness the catastrophes of inviting someone to come stay at your house ( out of gratitude), only to find that they don't know when the welcome has been worn out. Words, Words, Words: This play, which puts the idea of three monkeys typing into infinity and eventually reproducing the works of Shakespeare to a scientific test, provides the monkeys' ideas on such a task. Complete with lines almost out of Hamlet. Sure Thing: This production takes a look at the process of meeting new people, entering new relationships, and addressing particularly the pitfalls therein. Comes complete with a coffeeshop and feminist twist.
