St. Joseph Street Rapid City, SD 57701- 3995 Phone: ( 605) 394- 6082/ 2554 Fax: ( 605) 394- 6177 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ( February 23, 1998) SDSM& T STUDENT FROM NEW ULM WINS 6TH PLACE IN NORTH CENTRAL COMPUTER PROGRAMMING CONTEST Dan Janni, the son of Mary Jean and Dave Janni of New Ulm, and his two fellow team members captured 6th place in the recent ACM North Central Regional Computer Programming Contest. Dan is a senior computer science major at the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology in Rapid City, South Dakota. Janni's team competed against 53 other teams from thirty- two universities in the ACM North Central Region. In addition to the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology, universities competing in the North Central Regional Contest included the University of Minnesota- Morris, University of Minnesota- Duluth, Macalester, Carleton, Winona State, Gustavus Adolphus, Lake Superior State, University of Iowa, University of Nebraska- Lincoln, South Dakota State University, Michigan Tech, and the University of Wisconsin.
