Miller's Quality Government Commission Goes To The People Gov. Walter D. Miller's Commission on Quality Government takes its mission for greater government efficiency to the public this month, holding regional meetings in four South Dakota communities. The schedule, announced this weak. calls for regional meetings: �March 9. 7:00 p.m., at the Lincoln Senior High School cafeteria in Sioux Falls; �March 15. 7:00 p.m., at the Northern State University Student Union in Aberdeen; �March 16. 7:00 p.m., at the RDTN Studio. Capitol Building basement in Pierre; and �March 22. 7:00 p.m., at the Stevens High School library in Rapid City. "Lt. Gov. Steve Kirby, who chairs my Commission on Quality Government, will hold these meeting to find out from our customers, the citizens of this state, how we can better deliver state services to them." Gov. Miller said. "At these meetings, Lt. Gov. Kirby and his 12-member commission are especially interested in hearing comments on delivery of programs for rural development, children with special needs and environmental permitting." the Governor said. Gov. Miller appointed the commission last November to "chart a course that taps state employees' and South Dakota citizens' ideas and energies. �This Initiative for Quality Government builds on concepts of continuous improvements, public/private partnerships and an emphasis on results." Gov. Miller said. The March 16 regional meeting in Pierre also will be carried over the state's Rural Development Telecommunications (RDT) Network. "People who cannot attend a meeting in person may simply go to one of eight RDT Network sites and participate by video/audio teleconferencing." Lt. Gov. Kirby said. "Our commission is a dynamic group, with lots of great ideas." Lt. Gov. Kirby said. "But, we don't have the corner on good ideas. We know there are folks out there, from all corners of the state and all walks of life, who have some thoughts on how we can better serve them and get the roost value from the taxpayer's dollar. We went to hear from them." People who wish to participate via the RDT Network March 16 should go to network sites at: �South Dakota School of Mines and Technology in Rapid City. �the State Capitol basement in Pierre. �SDSU Studio No. 1 in Brookings. �Black Hills State University in Spearfish. �Dakota State University in Madison. �Lake Area Tech in Watertown, �Mitchell Tech in Mitchcll, or �Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls.
