TranscriptUNIVERSAL Record Chadron, NE Cir. W. 2, 851 MAR 25 1997 Universal Press Clipping Bureau CSC reaches articulation agreement with SD Tech Chadron State College and South Dakota School of Mines and Technology recently completed an articulation agreement that will make it easier for pre-engineering students at Chadron State to transfer to the Rapid City institution. The agreement establishes a list of Chadron State courses that will transfer and substitute for required courses at South Dakota Tech in chemical, civil, electrical and mechanical engineering. Chadron State students planning to transfer to Tech will be assigned a mentor and be entered into an individualized education plan at that school while they are still attending CSC. Dr. Ted Davis, dean of the School of Science and Mathematics at Chadron State, said the two institutions have had an excellent working relationship for many years, but the new agreement will improve the transfer process even more. Dr. James Munro, dean of the College of Chemical, Physical and Material Sciences and Engineering at South Dakota Tech, called the agreement "an exciting first step in Tech's teaching out to work more closely with other post-secondary institutions in providing quality educational opportunities." "The true beneficiaries of the agreement are students, " Munro said. "Under this agreement, students can begin their education at Chadron Stale College, knowing in advance that the courses they take there will transfer to degree programs at Tech." Davis and Monro said the institutions also are exploring the possibilities of using their interactive distance learning systems to deliv pre-engineering courses from Tech to Chadron State and liberal courses offered by Chadron State to Tech.
