Fourth St. Bismarck, ND 58501 Carson Press Hettinger Gym Has New Name After the Hettinger high gymnasium was refinished, the Hettinger School Board and Superintendent Steven Rassiu decided to give it a name. The Hettinger gym is now known as the Roberts-Reinke Auditorium. On Dec. 23, 1993 at the Christmas basketball tournament, the dedication ceremony was held. Superintendent Steve Rassiu and president of school board, Gary Dewhirst, presented plaques to Elaine Reinke and each of her sons, Bernett, Rod and Max. Elaine gave a short response. John J. Roberts and 0. Gordon Reinke worked together for many years. Gordon attended grade and high school at Elgin, ND. where John J. Roberts was superintendent for many years but later moved to Hettinger, ND. Gordon furthered his education at Dickinson State University, South Dakota School of Mines and Northern State College. Following graduation, he taught at Ashley, ND, Rice Lake, WI and Lemmon, SD. John J. Roberts was superintendent at Hettinger when Gordon was hired as principal in 1949. Then following Superintendent Roberts death in 1963, Gordon became superintendent until his death in 1991. These two men had worked together for many years.
