TranscriptValley Challenger Students honored on college Dean's Lists Local students have been honored this spring for earning a place on the honors lists at area colleges and universities. University of Sioux Falls Jennifer M. Sittig is on the Dean's List at the University of Sioux Falls for outstanding academic achievement during the spring term. Students are required to exceed a grade point average of 3.5 to receive this honor. Sittig is a 1999 graduate of Brandon Valley High School and is the daughter of Jeff and April Boucher of Brandon. Southwest State University Daniel Freng and Andrea Thiele, both of Brandon, were among 293 students who have been named to the Honors list during the spring semester of study at Southwest State University in Marshall, Minn. Those with a grade point average between 3.5 and 3.99 qualify for Honors recognition. Thiele is the daughter of Glenn R. and Alica P. Thiele of Brandon. Dakota State University Michelle Roemen, Michael Clark and Scott Carroll, all of Brandon, were among more than 250 students named to the President's Academic Honor List for Spring 2000 at Dakota State University in Madison. To qualify for the honor list, a student must maintain at least a 3.5 grade point Average. Augustana College Kimberly Karli, Jennifer Jorgenson and Jennifer Nelson, all of Brandon, and Kate Knudson of Sioux Falls were Among 443 full-time students who were named to the Dean's List at Augustana College in Sioux Falls for the 2000 spring semester. They earned a 3.5 grade point average or better for the term. Ripon College Katherine Morrissey and Meghann Morrissey, daughters of Gregory and Kathy Morrissey of Brandon. have been named to the 2000 spring semester Dean's List at Ripon College, Ripon, Wis. To qualify for the Dean's List, students must achieve a 3.4 grade point average or higher. Katherine Morrissey is a first-year student majoring in speech communication and English. Meghann Morrissey is a first-year student with an undeclared major. University of South Dakota Jon McInerney and Joy Johnson, both of Sioux Falls, have been named to the Dean's List for the Spring 2000 semester at University of South Dakota in Vermillion. McInerney was enrolled in the USD School of Business. Johnson is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences. Her future plans are to attend law school. She is studying pre-law. Southeast Technical Inst. Seven Brandon students and one Valley Springs student have been named 10 the Spring 2000 Semester Director's List at Southeast Technical Institute in Sioux Falls. To be eligible for the Director's List, students must be full-time and have achieved a minimum grade point average of 3.5 for the term. Local students on the list are as follows: Brandon - David Meyer, bio-medical equipment; Stacey Balster, business administration; Jeff Tommeraasen, CIS computer programming; Brian Clement, CIS computer programming; Nicholas Schneider, graphic communications; Kari Kirkeby, graphic communications; Joshua Ljunggren, nuclear medicine. Valley Springs - Paul Vanderburg, CIS computer programming. Handing University Joana R. Carlson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Carlson, Texas City, is among 892 students included on the Dean's List for the spring semester at Harding University in Searcy, Ark. To be eligible for the list, students must be carrying 12 or more hours and have an average scholarship level of 3.65 minimum. Carlson is a senior majoring in political science. South Dakota State U Fifteen local students have been named to the dean's list for academic excellence during the Spring 2000 semester at South Dakota State University in Brookings. They are as follows: Brandon - Daren Davoux, Michael Uken and Nathan Weeks*, all of the College of Engineering; Kimberly Wittrock, College of Agriculture and Biological Sciences; Lorrie Bozung*, Rhonda Dreckman and Cameron Serk, all of the College of Family and Consumer Sciences; Karrie Christenson and Carol Oppriecht*, both of the College of Nursing; and Erik Case and Jada Wolf, both of the College of General Registration. Valley Springs - Karl Palmberg*, College of Engineering; Austin Hansen and Kelli Whitely, both of the College of Arts and Sciences; and Amanda Todd, College of General Registration. To earn dean's list distinction, students must attain a minimum of 3.4 grade point average. Students with an asterisk earned a perfect 4.0 grade point average. SD School of Mines Jennifer Buxton has been placed on the Dean's List at South Dakota School of Mines & Technology in Rapid City. She will be a sophomore this fall, majoring in Industrial Engineering. She is the daughter of Rob and Dee Buxton of Brandon. Southeast Community Joseph E. Schwartz is among 327 students who were named to the Dean's List for the spring quarter at Southeast Community College, Milford, Ne., campus. Schwartz is enrolled in Machine Tool & CAD/CAM Technology. University of Iowa Robert Hodgson and Ruth Ann Van Veldhuizen, both of Sioux Falls, were among 3, 172 undergraduate students at the University of Iowa named to the dean's list for the 1999-2000 spring semester. Both are enrolled in the College of Liberal Arts. Students named to the list carried at least 12 graded semester hours during the semester and achieved a minimum 3.5 grade point average. The University of Iowa is located in Iowa City, Iowa.
