Tech The following students from Pierre were candidates for degrees from South Dakota Tech during commencement ceremonies held Dec. 18, 2004, in Rapid City. Approximately 80 students were candidates for degrees during Tech's 150th Commencement. South Dakota Tech is an engineering and science university located in Rapid City, S.D. South Dakota Tech alum Dan Landguth, chairman of the board of Black Hills Corporation, delivered the commencement address. Lindsay Lipps of Hay Springs, Neb., gave the senior class message. Tech also awarded five Distinguished Alumni awards to Tech graduates who have made tremendous contributions to their professions and their communities.
