The Debate: Should English Be Our Official Language?" Speakers: Roger Ochse, Director of Writing, BHSU and Dr. Stewart Bellman, SDSM& T Faculty Development Director 12: 00 noon - 1: 00 pm, Bump Lounge, Surbeck Center ( Lunch available at 11: 30 am). For additional information, contact Donna Hughes- Hargraves, United Campus Ministries, at 394- 2811. Hardrocker Volleyball Game: South Dakota Tech vs. Sheridan Junior College 6: 00 p. m. Goodell Gymnasium Sept. 15- 19: " Personal Safety Week" SDSM& T Residence Halls will be observing Personal Safety Week with activities that include presentors coming on campus to address Gang Awareness, Fire Safety, and Personal Self Defense. Videos will be shown on the weekend relating to the subject of safety. The Task Force also will walk the parking lots to evaluate the safety of students' cars. Sept. 20: Tech Powerhouse Classic Invitational Volleyball Tournament Goodell Gymnasium; For additional information, contact Tom Rudebusch, Sports Information Director, at 394- 2601 or Dana Pederson, Volleyball Coach, at 394- 2605. Sunday, Sept. 21: 25th Midwestern Mechanics Conference Registration and Opening Reception 6: 30 p. m., Alex Johnson Hotel Ballroom The 25th Midwestern Mechanics Conference ( MWMC) will be held Sept. 21 - 24 in more-- Rapid City. The MWMC was first held in 1949 and has been sponsored since that time by many of the most prestigious universities in the nation. Seven keynote presentations will be made, along with over 70 individual papers. Many different foreign countries will be represented. Monday, Sept. 22: 1997 SDSM& T Career Fair 9: 00 a. m. - noon; 1: 30 - 4: 30 p. m., Surbeck Center Ballroom With over 40 companies and organizations scheduled to participate, this will be the largest recruiting event ever on the Tech campus. Among the companies attending this year's Career Fair are Boeing, Cargill, Gateway 2000, Hewlett Packard, Hughest STX ( EROS Data Center), Kiewit Mining Group, Microsoft, 3M, and Rockwell Avionics. Adams, Univ. of Wyoming 9: 40 a. m. - 12: 00 Sessions on Dynamics, Fracture and Structures ( 3 sessions running concurrently at 25- minute intervals for a total of 15 sessions) 1: 10 - 3: 15 p. m.
