Tech's Institute of Atmospheric Sciences is accepting predications from everyone — especially students in kindergarten through 12th grade — who lives within a 100-mile radius of Rapid City. Contestants need to send the date and exact time the first inch of snow will be measured after Friday, Oct. 15, at the National Weather Service office on Star Village Hill in Rapid City. The entry with the time and date closest to the observed time and date will win a $40 dinner for two at a local restaurant of the winner's choice. In the event of a tie, a drawing will determine the winner. Entries are limited to one per person. To enter, send your name, address, phone number, and the date and exact time (hour, including a.m. or p.m., and minutes) you think the first inch of snow will be measured, to snowcontest@sdsmt.edu or to Snow Contest, c/o Institute of Atmospheric Sciences, SDSM&T, 501 East Saint Joseph Street, Rapid City, S.D. 57701.
