St. Joseph Street • Rapid City, SD 57701- 3995 Phone: ( 605) 394- 6082/ 2554 • Fax: ( 605) 394- 6177 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ( September 19, 1997) SDSM& T CAREER FAIR SEPTEMBER 22 TO BE LARGEST RECRUITING EVENT IN TECH HISTORY Nearly fifty companies and organizations are scheduled to recruit Tech students for placement, summer internships and cooperative education during the 1997 Career Fair being held Monday, September 22. This year's recruiting event, the largest in Tech history, will run from 9: 00 am - noon and 1: 30 - 4: 30pm in the Surbeck Center Ballroom. According to Jack Hunter, SDSM& T Director of Career Planning and Cooperative Placement, undergraduate cooperative education and summer internships reached an all- time high last year. Eighty percent of Tech's Engineering and Science graduates have relevant work experience when they graduate. Tech students reporting full time job offers at graduation last year increased by 10% compared to ‘ 95- 96. Bachelor of Science graduates from Tech attending graduate or professional schools increased from 15% to 20% this past year.
