St. Joseph Street Rapid City, SD 57701- 3995 Phone: ( 605) 394- 6082/ 2554 Fax: ( 605) 394- 6177 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ( May 8, 1997) CANTON STUDENT TO PRESENT SENIOR CLASS MESSAGE AT SDSM& T COMMENCEMENT SATURDAY, MAY 10TH Eric Broughton of Canton will present the senior class message at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology commencement ceremony this Saturday, May 10th. Broughton, an electrical engineering major, is a four- time letter winner in football and also was named to the All- Conference Football Team. In addition to being Senior Class President, Eric's activities at South Dakota Tech include being Junior Class President, a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers ( IEEE), and a member of the Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity. He is the son of Steve and Carol Broughton of rural Worthing. Following graduation, Eric will be working for North Star Steel, a division of Cargill, in Kingman, Arizona. SDSM& T's 135th commencement will begin at 10: 00 a. m. in the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center Arena. 242 students are candidates for undergraduate or graduate degrees. The commencement address will be given by Daniel S. Goldin, Administrator of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration ( NASA), Washington, DC.
