| Transcript | PUBLICITY/ NATIONAL CONCRETE CANOE: National, regional, and local media will be contacted before, during, and after the National Concrete Canoe Competition through press releases and telephone calls. Photographs, video and a satellite uplink also will be made available to all interested media. We also will work with our local, state and Congressional officials in publicizing the event in their newsletters, calendars of events, and other publications. In addition, we will create, maintain and publicize a web site for the National Concrete Canoe Competition. Utilizing laptop computers, digital cameras and scanning equipment, we will continually update the web site with photographs and race results as they occur similar to what we did when hosting the 1997 ASCE Rocky Mountain Regional Conference this spring. Prior to the competition, we will contact each participating university team to get a listing of print and broadcast media contacts in their region. We will compile a comprehensive media contact list, including wire services, and then enter this information into our fax database so that competition results can be faxed to all media with the push of one button as soon as the results are available. Our local television stations are very willing to film footage of other university teams for their sister network stations in other states similar to what was offered during the recent Rocky Mountain Regional ASCE Conference held in Rapid City. Our local newspaper, the Rapid City Journal, was also very cooperative during the Regional Conference in making photographs of other university teams available upon request to the Associated Press bureaus in other states. Prior to the competition, we also will contact all the relevant daily newspapers for each participating team and assist them in requesting an Associated Press photograph taken of their university during the competition. We also will produce a pre- competition newspaper and a post- competition newspaper for the National Concrete Canoe Competition similar to the enclosed samples from the Rocky Mountain Regional ASCE Conference. We also will prepare and distribute localized press releases to the hometown newspapers for each participating university team member. At the awards banquet, we will present a PowerPoint program which will feature photographs, highlights and other memorable moments from the 1998 National Concrete Canoe Competition. This will be similar to what was done during the Regional ASCE Conference. We also will monitor local print and broadcast news coverage of the competition. Copies of relevant newspaper articles and television stories will be made available to ASCE and Master Builders, Inc. following the competition. |
