St. Joseph Street Rapid City, SD 57701- 3995 Phone: ( 605) 394- 6082/ 2554 Fax: ( 605) 394- 3388 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ( April 25, 1997) NATIONAL PRESIDENT AND VISITING SCIENTIST OF AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF PETROLEUM GEOLOGISTS TO PRESET SEMINARS AT SDSM& T The National President of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists ( AAPG) and a AAPG Visiting Scientist will be visiting the Tech campus April 28 and 29 to present seminars on the petroleum industry. The seminars are open to the public. AAPG is one of the largest professional scientific organizations in the world. Mr. Bob Cowdery, AAPG National President, will visit the SDSM& T Department of Geology and Geological Engineering on Monday, April 28. He will discuss career opportunities in the petroleum industry at 4: 00 p. m. in Room 222, Mineral Industries ( MI) Building. As AAPG President, Cowdery has direct contact with most of the major oil companies and has some encouraging news about careers in the petroleum industry. Cowdery will discuss future career opportunities and also will discuss energy, supply and demand. On Tuesday, April 29, Don Stone, AAPG Visiting Scientist, will present two seminars on the structural geology of Rocky Mountain basins. Stone will discuss " New Interpretations of Laramide Structures, Bighorn Basin, Wyoming" at 1: 00 p. m., Tuesday, April 29, in MI Room 222. From 2: 00 - 4: 00 p. m. he will speak on " The Use of Seismic Sections to Interpret Geological Structures" in MI Room 332. For additional information about the seminars, contact Dr. James E.
