In May 2003, Pfeifer graduated from South Dakota Tech with a bachelor's of science degree in Mechanical Engineering. Tech is an engineering, science and technology university in Rapid City, S.D. Tech competed against more than 100 engineering design teams from colleges across the United States, Mexico, and Canada. The Baja cars were judged on design, cost and safety. Teams gave presentations about their cars, and showed off their performance during hill climb, maneuverability and acceleration events. The Baja cars and drivers were also put to the test during the four-hour endurance race over rugged terrain that tested the durability of each vehicle. #30# SDSM&T News 501 E.
