Orville Symposium on Saturday, April 26, in Rapid City. The symposium will focus on the science of interactions of cloud microphysics and dynamics and the role of numerical models in furthering knowledge of the subject. The purpose of this symposium is to celebrate Orville's 40 years of contributions to atmospheric sciences. During the past 40 years, Orville, a distinguished professor emeritus at Tech, has worked on a variety of research topics, including the modeling of clouds, flow over topography, cloud dynamics and acid rain. Orville produced many outstanding students during his 40 years of teaching in Tech's Department of Atmospheric Sciences. The department organized this special symposium to celebrate his distinguished career. Invited speakers will give a series of presentations that review the current state of the science centered on the theme of the symposium. The eight-hour symposium begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Rushmore Plaza Holiday Inn. Other activities in conjunction with the Orville Symposium include: Institute of Atmospheric Sciences open house: 2 p.m. to 5 pm, Friday, April 25. The Institute offices are located on the second floor of the Mineral Industries Building on Tech's campus. WMA Meeting: The Weather Modification Association will hold their annual meeting from Wednesday. April 23, to Friday, April 25, at the Rushmore Plaza Holiday Inn.
