TranscriptBy Brad Blume Sports Information Director South Dakota School of Mines RAPID CITY --- The South Dakota School of Mines men's and women's track teams finished up their regular season this past weekend and with only the NAIA National Meet left, the Hardrockers are ranked national in eight events on the final NAIA performance list. SDM senior Jake Donnelly has the most rankings, being represented in the 100-meter, the 200-meter and 400-meter dashes as well as the second leg of the 4x400 relay. The Elk Point native has the 13th best time in the 200, clocking 21.47 seconds; is 18th best in the 400 with a mark of 48.23; and holds the 20th best time in the 100 with a 10.68. Along with Donnelly, the 4x400 relay squad consists of Colin Royer (Ft. Pierre), Colton Reid (Colstrip, Mont.) and Mark Wager (Gettysburg). The group holds down a time of 3 minutes 16.40 and is ranked 15th. Lady Hardrocker sophomore Shannon Hellman is ranked national in both the 100 hurdles and 400 hurdle events. Hellman, who was an outdoor All American in the 100 hurdles last year, is ranked second in 2007 with a time of 14 seconds flat. She also has the 15th fastest time in the 400 hurdles in a time of 1:03.97. In the field events, both Chandler Caldwell (junior from Thornton, Colo.) and Eric Voorhees (senior from Gillette, Wyo.) have Top 25 marks. Both made appearances at the NAIA Indoor Meet in their respective events earlier this year. Voorhees holds the 25th best distance in the shot put at 50-feet-4.50 inches and Caldwell has the 13th best height in the pole vault at 15-7. "I think they all have a good chance to place in the Top 6 at the National Meet and become All Americans, said Hardrocker head track coach Jerry Schafer. "They have been very competitive all year and it looks like they are shaping up and ready to go."
