Bjustrom is a multi-sport standout from Algona, Iowa, who was the starting point guard for the Lady Bulldogs for three years as well as a four-year letter winner in the program. "Stephany will certainly help us in the point guard position, " said Lady Hardrocker head coach Barb Felderman. Bjustrom owns four records at Algona High School, ranking first in most points in a career (709), most three-point goals made in a career (58), best three-point goal percentage in a season (47.2 percent) and most assists in a season (141). "Stephany is an excellent passer and she sees the court very well." Felderman said. "She can also hit the three when she wants as well as penetrate to the basket." During the 2006-07 season, Bjustrom averaged 11 points, five assists, two rebounds and three steals per game. Bjustrom was named to the Iowa Girls' Coaches Association Northwest All-District Team this past season and also earned 2007 Class 3A Region 4 All District Team honors. She was also a unanimous choice for First Team All North Central Conference as a senior and was named to the second team after her sophomore and junior campaigns. During her high school career, Bjustrom also competed in volleyball (two-year letter winner), golf (four-year letter winner) and softball (one-year letter winner). She was also a National Honor Society member, a member of the Outdoors Club and a Silver Cord participant (volunteer group). Bjustrom plans to study premed while attending South Dakota School of Mines. She is the daughter of Tom and Linda Bjustrom. Stephany Bjustrom of Algona High School recently signed a letter of intent to play basketball for the South Dakota School of Mines. Bjustrom was a standout player during her high school career and looks to continue that tradition as a Lady Hardrocker. Seated with Stephany is her high school coach Brad Sudol and her parents (standing) Tom and Linda Bjustrom. Courtesyphoto |
