Dangel is majoring in Civil Engineering at South Dakota Tech, located in Rapid City, S.D. The students made more than 6, 000 phone calls during eight nights of calling during drive. The Foundation processed almost 900 pledge cards or requests for information during the effort. The majority of the donated and pledged dollars are unrestricted, meaning the Foundation can use them in areas of most need. The semi-annual Phonathon is the most effective way the Foundation has found to reach a large number of alumni in a short period of time. Nearly $400, 000 has been contributed since the Phonathons began in the fall of 1998. #30# SDSM&T News 501 E.
