| Transcript | By Brad Blume Lady Hardrockers sign Wyoming hoops all star Sports Information Director South Dakota School of Mines RAPID CITY, S.D. --- South Dakota School of Mines women's basketball head coach Barb Felderman is pleased to announce the signing of new recruit Amanda Willmore to the 2008-09 Lady Hardrocker roster. Willmore is a 5-foot-5-inch guard from Rock Springs Wyo., with an impressive list of accomplishment playing high school hoops for the Rock Springs Tigers. "(Amanda) is a competitor, " Felderman said. "She plays fierce defense and can score in a multitude of ways. She sees the court well and is an extremely good passer." Willmore has earned a number of honors, which include: the 2008 Marines Corp Distinguished Athlete Award; was named to the 2007-08 All State Wyoming Basketball team; was a two-time All Conference selection; earned a spot on the 2008 Wyoming All Star Team; named to the 2008 Wyoming Coaches Association South All Start Team; was named to the 2008 Energy Classic All Tournament Team; earned a spot on the 2007 End-of-the-Oregon-Trail All Tournament Team; and was also All Conference Volleyball in 2005 and 2006. Among her academic achievements, Willmore is a member of the National Honor Society, won the 2008 Outstanding Senior Award; was the Rock Springs Student Council Treasurer, was a member of Athletes for Literacy, and belonged to her school's Calculus Club. "As all our student-athletes, Amanda has some great goals in mind and will do everything to achieve them, " Felderman said. "We are looking forward to coaching this fine young lady." |
