Michelle officially assumed her new duties on November 17th. She brings an extensive background in student leadership programs and a commitment to community service activities. Prior to coming to SDSM& T, Michelle served as Assistant Director of Student Activities at the University of Florida, an institution with an enrollment of 42, 000. Her activities with the Florida Gators included an emphasis on student leadership development and community service. In 1997 she was appointed National Association for Campus Activities ( NACA) Chair of the Commision for Leadership and Student Development. In that capacity, she was responsible for all programs, services and publications related to leadership and student development, including summer workshops, convention programs and resource materials. In addition to serving in numerous other NACA positions, she has made many workshop presentations at a variety of national, regional and local conferences. Michelle is a native of Lincoln, NE and graduated from the University of Nebraska- Lincoln with a B. A. degree in English. She received a Master of Education degree in College Student Personnel from the University of Maryland at College Park. Her hobbies include gardening, cooking and reading— Tech's new Martha Stewart! Welcome, Michelle, to the South Dakota Tech family! |
