| Transcript | By Brad Blume Sports Information Director South Dakota School of Mines RAPID CITY ‐‐‐ The South Dakota School of Mines football team continues to reap the benefits of a successful season earning 12 spots on the 2008 Dakota Athletic Conference All‐Conference Teams. The Hardrockers had four players earn DAC first team honors, four players earn DAC second team honors and five players named to the DAC Honorable Mention list. Members of the SD Mines football team that made the DAC first team are: freshman running back Jamie Dale, senior linebacker Tyrell Anderson, sophomore defensive back Tom Lunzman and special team ace sophomore Dustin Menely. Dale had a big season for the Hardrockers and capped it off with a DAC First Team Offense selection. The San Diego, Calif., native scored 14 total touchdowns and broke the school season scoring record with 88 points. He tallied 1, 408 all purpose yards this year and averaged 156.4 each game. Anderson, a Green River, Wyo., native, made the All Conference list for the second consecutive year. He was the team's second leading tackler with 74 – 9.5 were for a loss. He also had one sack and broke up three passes. Lunzman picked up where he left off last year. The Gretna, Neb., native led the team with 84 tackels ‐‐‐ 6.5 were for a loss of yardage. He also had a team hing six intereceptions returned for 111 yards as well as two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble to go along with four pass breakups. Lunzman was named to the DAC First Team At Large. Meneley not only made the DAC First Team Special Team, but was also named to the DAC Honorable Mention List as a defensive back. As a kickoff returner, the Naples, Fla., native posted 497 yards on 19 returns. He averaged 26.2 yards a return and scored one touchdown. On punt return he returned 20 punts for 343 yards. He averaged 17.1 yards per punt return and scored one touchdown this season. As a defensive back, Meneley recorded44 tackles, had three interceptions and broke up five passes. Beilstein did very well this season making the transition to tight end. The Lodi, Calif, native had 46 receptions and tallied 508 yards on the season and scored five touchdowns. He averaged 50.8 yards a game. Westendorf ended the year with 67 tackles, two interceptions, broke up eight passes, recovered three fumbles and forced one fumble while fellow senior Clark had 61 tackles – five for a loss and half a sack and one pass breakup. |
