Transcript‘Rockers ink first football recruit of 2009 season By Brad Blume Sports Information Director South Dakota School of Mines RAPID CITY --- The South Dakota School of Mines football program is already preparing for next season getting a commitment from its first recruit for the 2009 season. The Hardrocker football team along with SD Mines football head coach Dan Kratzer is pleased to welcome Trevor Moheit as the newest ‘Rocker football player. "We are very excited to have Trevor as part of our program, " Kratzer said. "He is an outstanding individual, as well as an outstanding football player." Moheit comes from Vacaville, Calif., where he was a standout player for the Vancaville Christian High School Falcons, a team that finished this past season with a 9-2 overall mark. The 5-foot-7-inch, 170 pound running back accumulated 1, 341 yards during his senior season and scored 26 rushing touchdowns on 149 carries. He also collected 93 yards on six passes to go along with one TD reception. "Trevor should be able to contribute to our success in many areas, " Kratzer added. "He has great field vision and presence and has the ability to catch and run with great authority." Moheit was also one of the leading tacklers on the Falcon team --- a squad that earned the Sacramento- Joaquin Section Div. He was also selected First Team All League on offense as a running back and as a linebacker for defense. Not only that, but Moheit also scored the fifth most points in the state of California. The Falcons also awarded him best running back and linebacker for the 2008 campaign. On top of that Moheit broke several records at VCS most tackles and most points to name a few. While attending SD School of Mines, Moheit plans to major in Chemical Engineering. SD Mines finished the 2008 with a 5-5 record and was very competitive in the Dakota Athletic Conference.
