TranscriptBy Brad Blume Sports Information Director South Dakota School of Mines RAPID CITY --- The South Dakota School of Mines football program and Hardrocker head coach Dan Kratzer are pleased to announce the signing of Taylor Beamer as the newest recruit to the 2009 Hardrocker football team. Beamer is a 6-foot-3-inch, 255 pound offensive lineman from Houston, Texas. He recently finished his senior year for the Clear Lake High School Falcons, where Beamer's team finished the season with an 8-3 overall record and second in league play. Taylor is an outstanding freshman prospect, " said Kratzer. "He is an extremely hard worker, and is a very consistent player on game day." As a high school player, Beamer earned a number of accomplishments. He was named to the District 24- 5A First Team as an offensive lineman (center), earned the team's Most Valuable OL Award, was a two-year letterman and also played on special teams as well as a defensive tackle, was a Texas Academic All- District selection and in 2008 helped take his team into the Texas 5A Div. 1 playoffs where they lost in overtime to the No. 5 ranked team in the state. "He is strong with very good feet, and those two things alone make good offensive lineman! Taylor fits the mold, " Kratzer said. "We are very excited about having him in our program. He is a young man that at 6-3 could grow some more, as his dad is 6-8. The SD School of Mines Hardrockers are coming off their most productive season in 13 years after finishing 5-5 in one of the NAIA's most competitive and challenging conferences --- the Dakota Athletic Conference. The Hardrockers took major strides and with quality recruits like Beamer, the SDM football program is headed in the right direction.
