TranscriptBy Brad Blume Sports Information Director South Dakota School of Mines RAPID CITY -- The South Dakota School of Mines women's basketball program got another boost to its roster recently as the Hardrockers added another quality athlete for the 2009-10 campaign. Shalane Moore Hampp, a 5-foot-4-inch sophomore point guard from Zanesville, Ohio, is a transfer student from Pikeville College in Pikesville, Kent. Moore Hampp took a year off from school and the game to get married. In 2007-08 she was the Lady Bears' leading assist leader with 78 and averaged 6.7 points a game and tallied 23 total steals. "Shalane sees the court very well and she is a great passer, " said Lady Hardrocker assistant coach Lori Coble. "She also brings a lot of quickness to the court and is known for defense. She is a feisty defensive player and is very eager to get back into the game after a year off." "I would say that I have a high work ethic, " Moore Hampp said of her style of play. "In high school, I started all four years in basketball and I ended with 996 points, but I had three times as many assists. I am very unselfish and a team player." Moore Hampp was a four –time letter winner in basketball, track and soccer during her time at Philo High School in Ohio. She received many other awards including being an All Ohio Honorable Mention selection for basketball for the 2006-07 season and was a member of the Ohio North vs. South All-Star game as a senior as well. "I'm very excited to be playing basketball here at SD School of Mines, " Moore Hampp said.
