| Transcript | By Brad Blume Sports Information Director South Dakota School of Mines RAPID CITY --- The South Dakota School of Mines cross country and track programs got a recent boost to their respective rosters with the addition of a pair of Montana recruits – both from Glendive. Kyle Fife and Lillian Temple have been announced as the newest Hardrocker athletes and will join the programs starting in the fall of 2009. Fife will join the ‘Rocker men's cross country and track teams as a strong and able distance runner. He finished eighth this past year at the Class A Montana State Cross Country Meet. "Kyle will fit in very well with our team, " said Hardrocker head cross country and track coach Jerry Schafer. ��We believe he has a tremendous upside and will add depth to our distance corp." Temple will be a welcome addition to the Lady Hardrocker track team where her talents will be utilized in the sprints and relay events as well as the high jump and triple jump. Temple's personal-best height in the high jump is 5-feet-1-inch and has reached a distance of 35-2 in the triple jump which should prove that the transition to college competition will be an easy one for her. "Lillian has a lot of ability as a track athlete, " Schafer said. "She is a quality jumper and will give us versatility in the sprints and relays." While attending the SD School of Mines Fife will be majoring in Geology Engineering while Temple will take up Civil and Environmental Engineering. The South Dakota School of Mines and Technology has a proud heritage of preparing graduates to serve as leaders in engineering and science.
