| Transcript | By Brad Blume Sports Information Director South Dakota School of Mines RAPID CITY --- The South Dakota School of Mines along with the Hardrocker football program are pleased to announce Garrett Peterson as the newest recruit to the 2009 season. Peterson is a 6-foot-3-inch, 195 pound athlete from Stapleton, Neb., that is very versatile and skilled at several different positions on the defensive side of the ball. "Garrett is a gem in the rough, " said Hardrocker head football coach Dan Kratzer. "He comes from a good small high school program in Nebraska and his future in football ahead of him. At 6-3 and 195 pounds, he is still growing and will be a guy that adds great depth of the defensive side of the ball. He has the potential to play several different positions, and when he finds his hit, it will be a good one." Peterson will add depth to a Hardrocker team that finished 5-5 in the 2008 season and is well on its way to another promising 2009 campaign. SD Mines will begin its campaign Aug. 29 when the Hardrockers play host to Montana Tech in a 6 p.m. contest at O'Harra Stadium. The South Dakota School of Mines and Technology has a proud heritage of preparing graduates to serve as leaders in engineering and science.
