| Transcript | By Brad Blume Sports Information Director South Dakota School of Mines RAPID CITY --- The South Dakota School of Mines women's volleyball program along with Lady Hardrocker volleyball head coach Tiffany Mastin are pleased to announce the signing of Kanysa Bartsch as the newest recruit and will join the squad in the fall of 2009. Bartsch is a 5-foot-8-inch outside hitter/defensive specialist from Lubbock, Texas who finished her high school volleyball career at Lubbock Cooper High School. While attending SD School of Mines, Bartsch plans to pursue a major in engineering. "Kanysa is a very fundamentally sound volleyball player, " Mastin said. "She's very athletic and very intelligent. She is driven on and off the court and is an extremely hard worker.��� During her senior year, Bartsch was named to the 2008 District 2-3A All-District second team, earned the team Player of the Year honors, was a team captain and earned academic all-state for the second straight year. "Kanysa will impact the team right away, " Mastin said. "Her ball control is sensational and passing wise she will help us execute the fast pace offense that I would like to run. She is one of those players that will make the Hardrockers a better team." "As a coach I am equally impressed with her dedication and determination to excel academically as she's excelled athletically. It's one of those qualities that will prepare her for her future endeavors."
