This summer the Children's Science Center is the perfect place for them to do that. Give your child the opportunity to learn and have fun at the same time during the Center's summer enrichment classes. The Children Science Center will offer the classes to children ages 6-12. Each class runs from 9 a.m. to noon each Thursday and Friday starting June 6. The Center also will offer one-day Wednesday classes once a month. Prices are $25 for members and $27.50 for non-members. Material fees may be extra for some classes. You can pick up and drop off registration forms at the Center, 515 West Blvd., Rapid City. The registration deadline is at least one week prior to start of each class. Classes are limited to the first 15 who register. June 6 - 7 9 a.m. - noon Kites to Satellites: Discover the power of lift and how it has taken photography and imaging to new heights. Cost: $27.50 for non-members and $25 for members. June 13 - 14 9 a.m. - noon Color Your World: Not every creature sees color. For us, we discover the beauty of art and understand what a red light means. Colors are vital in our world. Explore the chemical aspect of this light and color. Cost: $27.50 for non-members and $25 for members. Wednesday, June 19 10 a.m. - noon Digging in the Dirt: Just like you, plants and flowers need a good start to grow up strong. Come and plant flowers, and help make that happen. Cost: $12 for non-members and $10 for members. June 20 - 21 9 a.m. - noon Mammals, Mammals, Mammals: Learn about the most familiar and dominant group of vertebrates on Earth today! Cost: $27.50 for non-members and $25 for members. -more- -page 2- June 27 9 a.m. - noon Gold Around You: Gold is everywhere, including in the places and things you'd least expect. Lets discover it together! Cost: $12 for non-members and $10 for members. July 11 - 12 9 a.m. - noon The Dark Side: Who or what likes to live in the dark and in caves? Is light ever needed for their lives? Grow rock candy crystals. Cost: $27.50 for non-members and $25 for members. Material Fee: $5. Wednesday, July 17 10 a.m. - noon Common Sense of Science: Let's get under animals' skins and behind their eyes to see the world the way they do. Cost: $12 for non-members and $10 for members. July 18 - 19 9 a.m. - noon Science Olympiad: You probably like water balloons. Let's use them to have fun with physics! Cost: $27.50 for non-members and $25 for members. July 25 - 26 9 a.m. - noon Spidermania: Spiderlings and draglines, harvestmen, tarantulas, stinging arachnids. What are these creatures? Cost: $27.50 for non-members and $25 for members. August 1 - 2 9 a.m. - noon Jaws: Get to know the shark. Discover details by dissecting one. Cost: $27.50 for non-members and $25 for members. Material Fee: $5. August 8 - 9 9 a.m. - noon Weather to Play Outside or Not: The water cycle is the key factor in the Earth's weather. Make clouds and raindrops. Find out what happens when two air masses meet. Cost: $27.50 for non-members and $25 for members. Wednesday, August 14 10 a.m. - noon Insect World: Learn how bugs live, eat, and communicate with each other. Cost: $12 for non-members and $10 for members. August 15 - 16 9 a.m. - noon Eat your Way Through Science: No need to explain. Come and eat and drink what you make. Learn the secrets of soda pop and candy. Cost: $27.50 for non-members and $25 for members. Material Fee: $5. August 21 - 22 9 a.m. - noon Magnetism: Push and pull with us as we experience the play of forces. Cost: $27.50 for non-members and $25 for members.
