Hallberg is an Electrical Engineering major at South Dakota Tech, located in Rapid City, S.D. The teams had to design and build robots that could search their way through an unknown maze and memorize the maze so that they could travel through it in the shortest time possible. More than 33 universities from the central United States sent teams to compete. Only seven teams, including both from South Dakota Tech, made it through the qualifying round. In the final round, the Oklahoma State University robot beat Tech by a couple second to take first place. South Dakota Tech offers bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees in the fields of engineering, science and interdisciplinary studies. #30# SDSM&T News 501 E.
