St. Joseph Street Rapid City, SD 57701-3995 Phone: (605) 394-6082/2554 Fax: (605) 394-6177 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE April 26, 2002 Contact: Steve Buchholz, Public Information Manager, 394-6082 AISES Serves Up Fund-Raiser The American Indian Science & Engineering Society at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology will sponsor a fund-raiser from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, May 2, in the Surbeck Student Center Bump Lounge on campus. In celebration of Cinco de Mayo, AISES will serve authentic chicken enchiladas and beans made by chef John Gonzalez. The meal and a beverage will cost $5.10. Money raised will be used to help pay for costs associated with next April's AISES regional conference. Tech's AISES chapter will host the conference. AISES is a private, non-profit organization that nurtures building of community by bridging science and technology with traditional Native values. AISES builds partnerships of support with tribes, schools, other non-profit organizations, corporations, foundations and government agencies. It strives to provide academic, financial and cultural support to American Indians and Northern Natives from middle school through graduate school.
