ND 58501 MAY 09 1997 Dunn County Herald Killdeer Area schools name their honor students Bauer Brecht Bang Knopik Danks Nordberg Hartman Dukart Wasem Killdeer High School Principal Sieve Quintus has announced the 1997 graduating seniors who have attainded special honor student status, students with A grade averages above 3.50. Students who achieved this honor are Becki Bang, Amy Dukart, Kara Hanman and Jennifer Knopik. Other honor students who accumulated a grade-point average between 3.00 and 3.49, are Jason Vorberg and Misty Danks. Other members of the graduating class are Levi Bang, Michael Benz, Eric Dukart, Darren Dvorak, Dana Jilek. Stephanie Mann, Kristin McMahen. Susan Pachl, Craig Paulson, Barry Pavlenko, Raelene Schneider, Trevor Sinclair. Adam Strand, Wade Strand, Jared Watkins, Kaycee Wing, Levi Wolf and Vern Wolf. Commencement ceremonies are scheduled for May 25 at 2p.m. in the school gymnasium. Becki Lea Bang, daughter of Terrald and Carol Bang of Killdeer, was a member of FHA, K club, FBLA, President of Dollars for Scholars, President of the Pep Club, captain of cheerleading and captain of the basketball team. She was also in track and was state qualifier for five years. She won the Hardest Worker award in basketball and was Homecoming Queen, She is also in Who's Who among American high school students. Amy Jean Dukart is the daughter of Doug and Sandy Dukart of Manning. She was in band for four years, receiving most Improved Instrument for 1994-95 and Hardest Working Instrument in 1995-96. She was in FHA for three years as See STUDENTS. Page 12 from page I president and secrctary, FFA for two years as vice-president, 1997 District 8 FFA ambassador. She was a member of the 1996 state ag sales team, was 1997 chapter farmer and won the Dekaib award. She was in basketball four years, speech one year, Pep Club four years, Dollars for Scholars one year, 4-H 10 years, Teen Showmanship 1995-96, high consumer choice individual (1996) president, vice president, secretary and treasurer. She was on the honor roll all four years of high school. Kara Hartman, daughter of Richard and Pam Hartman, Killdeer, was in FBLA, president of FHA, Pep Club, Dollars for Scholars, Drama Club president, band, Klassics, co-captain of volley ball. Kara was the winner of the North Dakota Association dance and drill scholarship. She was in Who's Who among American high school students for three years. She has received the John Sousa band award and was chosen to be a member of the Northern Plains Honor Band. She was admitted to NDSU as a distinguished student and is this year's class valedictorian. Jennifer Knopik, daughter of Tom and Susie Knopik, Gladstone, was on the A honor roll, received the FFA Leadership award (1997) chapter, also FFA scholarship award (1997) chapter. She was president of FFA chapter (Killdeer) in 1996-97. She was in Dollars for Scholars from 1994-97, Pep Club 1993-97, FFA member 1993-97. Jennifer is also in Who's Who among American high school students. Jason Norberg, son of Gary and Dorothy Norberg, Killdeer, was a Boys State delegate and has been on the honor roll since seventh grade. He received three sports letters his senior year. He also is in Who's Who among American student. He was class officer from ninth grade to llth. Misty Danks, daughter of Clayton and Paula Danks, Killdeer, was a pick for the Who's Who award in 1994-95 also in 1995-96. She was nominated and picked to participate in the 50th annual N.D. Girls State, Misty has qualified for state track since her sophomore year. She was selected for the "Fort Berth old Ail-Star Basketball Team." In 1994 she played on the Indigenous Basketball team for N.D. She was a four-sport letter winner in track, girls basketball, volleyball and boy BB state. She was selected to sing in the 1997 Northern Plains all girls choir. Michael Bauer, son of Dale and Inez Bauer of Golden Valley, has been active in 4-H, horsemanship, Awana, acalympics and drama. He placed consistently in local and stale horse shows and was on a first-place N.D. State Horse Quiz Bowl team. He was a national Awana Bible Quiz Bowl finalist in Chicago. He was on the honor roll four years and received the Masonic High Honor Roll, U.S. National Leadership Merit Award and Who's Who among American High school students. Michael is employed with Pamida. He plans to work with Pamida in a management position. Chris Wasem, son of Tim and Roberta Wasem, Halliday, has been active in basketball, All-District Team, senior class president for four years. Pep Club, Yearbook, senior high Acalympics, football, first team all-state, all conference and a member of the Shrine game team. He was homecoming King. Chris plans to attend DSU after graduation. In 10 years, he expects to be graduated from college. David Brecht, son of Deen and Darlene Brecht, Golden valley, was in basketball four years, band two years, drama one year and student council for five years. His summer plans include a move to Bismarck to earn money for college. In the fall, David plans to attend the School of Mines and Technology in Rapid City, S.D. |
