The exhibit opens Monday, Feb. 18, and runs through Friday, March 22. The two artists will present a public lecture at noon Friday, Feb. 15 in Classroom Building Room 204E on Tech's campus. While Briggs and Hombre are very different artists, they have one thing in common – they share a studio. Briggs' images are large scale and monochrome black and white with large over- arching themes. Hombre's small jewel- like compositions are vibrantly colorful. The title of the exhibition, " Malice Is Rare, " combines the artists' first names and derives from a quote from German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche's writings, " Human, All Too Human." It reads: " Malice is rare. Most men are much too concerned with themselves to be malicious." In relation to their artwork, this cryptic quote refers to the notion that " we all act out of individual fundamental necessities whose moral justifications are created after the fact." The Apex Gallery invites you to listen to these interesting artists and see their work. Visit the gallery between 10 a. m. and 5 p. m. Monday through Saturday, and between 1 p. m. and 5 p. m. Sunday.
