Space Grant Consortium, 394- 1975 Steve Buchholz, Public Information Manager, 394- 6082 Space Days Photo and Interview Opportunities South Dakota/ NASA Space Days, scheduled for May 4 through May 6 at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center, offers many photo, video, and interview opportunities. A few possibilities: Friday, May 4 ( 8 a. m. to 5 p. m.) • South Dakota astronaut Col. Sam Gemar will speak at 10 a. m. and 2 p. m. Gemar will be available for one- on- one interviews after the presentations. Gemar has flown on three Space Shuttle missions on shuttles Atlantis, Discovery, and Columbia. Gemar has logged 600 hours in space. • School groups are scheduled throughout the day to tour the International Space Station exhibit and experience life inside a space station. • Students will attend StarLab Planetarium shows that start throughout the day. Saturday, May 5 ( 9 a. m. to 5 p. m.) • Free teacher training workshops. The free seminars will train teachers to use space- related topics in their classrooms. - Mars Exploration, 10 a. m. to noon, Room 205 - Small Bodies of the Solar System, 1: 30 p. m. to 4: 30 p. m., Room 205 - What's New at the NASA Resource Center, 10 a. m. to 11 a. m., Room 206 - Lakota Perspectives on the Environment from Mother Earth to the Heavens: What is in the Heavens is on Mother Earth, and What's on Mother Earth is in the Heavens, 11 a. m. to 1 p. m., Rooms 201 and 202. This workshop will also include a presentation on Lakota constellations in the StarLab Planetarium. - MORE- - PAGE 2- • South Dakota astronaut Col. Sam Gemar will speak at 10 a. m. • Throughout the day, visitors will experience the International Space Station exhibit, the StarLab Planetarium, and other exhibits.
