Pioneer Alex Fisher Of Bowman Is Local Candidate For SDSM&T Degree Alex Fisher of Bowman was a candidate for a Bachelor of Science degree from the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology (SDSM&T) during SDSM&T's spring commencement ceremony on May 13, 2000. Fisher was a candidate for a degree in geological engineering. The commencement address was given by Dr. Bill Hughes of Rapid City. Hughes also was presented with an Honorary Doctorate of Science Degree during the ceremony. Special honored guests also included Executive Director, South Dakota Board of Regents Dr. Tad Perry, twenty-seven 50-year graduates from the 1950 SDSM&T class, and the 2000 Guy E. March Medallist, John Dutt Erickson. The Guy E. March Medal is the highest alumni award that recognizes outstanding professional achievement. Charles Cox of Yankton delivered the senior class message. |
