It is designed for individuals in business and industry and for anyone wanting to improve their writing. Course emphasis will be on workplace reporting, including the proposal, abstract, and executive summary. Memoranda and letters, along with employment correspondence and the resume, are also covered in the course, with special consideration given to persuasive writing in solving client problems. The instructor is Michael Thomas Hudgens, a former science editor and public relations officer with General Motors- Hughes Corporation who has taught at SDSM& T since 1991. This course may be taken for professional development without college credit or, for those seeking credit, it carries three hours. The class meets Mondays beginning February 3 at 7 PM in the new Classroom Building, Room CB at SDSM& T. Each of the 15 sessions runs 3 hours. The course textbook, Contemporary Business Communication, will be available at the Tech Bookstore in Surbeck Center. For reservation materials call 394- 6995.
