St. Joseph Street Rapid City, SD 57701- 3995 Phone: ( 605) 394- 6082/ 2554 Fax: ( 605) 394- 6177 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE March 26, 2001 Contact: Suzi Aadland, Director, Ivanhoe International Center, 394- 6884 Cultural Expo scheduled for March 30 and March 31 More than 800 area schoolchildren are scheduled to attend " Cultural Expo 2001 Exploring the World and Celebrating Our Cultural Diversity in the New Millennium" Friday, March 30, at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. The event is open to the public between 10: 30 a. m. and 2: 30 p. m. Saturday, March 31. South Dakota Tech and National American University are sponsoring the event. It will be held in the Surbeck Student Center on Tech's campus. Schoolchildren will attend between 9 a. m. and 3 p. m. Friday. Cultural displays from Norway, Japan, India, Brazil, China, Zambia, the American Indian Science and Engineering Society ( AISES), Latin America, Bangladesh, Russia, Mongolia and the Philippines will be exhibited both days. There is no charge to visit the exhibits. There will be a nominal charge for sampling native foods, which will be available from 11: 30 a. m. to 2 p. m. Saturday. Cultural entertainment including dancing and singing will take place between 11: 30 a. m. and 1 p. m. Saturday.
