St. Joseph Street • Rapid City, SD 57701- 3995 Phone: ( 605) 394- 6082/ 2554 • Fax: ( 605) 394- 6177 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ( May 12, 1997) CHADRON STUDENTS WIN HONORS IN 1997 SDSM& T WEST RIVER MATH CONTEST Sohail Afiat and Holly Hindle of Chadron High School won honors in the recent 1997 SDSM& T West River Math Contest. Approximately 300 students from 28 area high schools competed in this year's competition, which was held on the South Dakota Tech campus on April 26th. Sohail won 1st place in the Class A Algebra II Division and also was the overall winner in that division. Holly won 5th place honors in the Class A Master's Division. The schools were divided into two classes of competition based on enrollment. Chadron students competed in Class A against 16 other schools. Students competed in five contest divisions -- Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Advanced Math and Masters. Members of South Dakota Tech's Mathematics and Computer Science Department prepared and scored the tests.
