Fossil prep training class, 1 p. m., Old Gym basement Men's basketball alumni game, 7 p. m., King Center. Alumni return from Colorado, Michigan, Utah and North Dakota. The Tech Ranger Challenge team competes in the Laramie regional Ranger Challenge Competition. Rapid City Journal religion editor Mary Duffy will speak about " Religious Diversity in Rapid City." Coffeehouse performance by Mike Rayburn, 7 p. m., Grubby's. Saturday, Nov. 4 " The Stars of Fall" 11: 15 a. m. and 1: 15 p. m. Planetarium show about the stars and stories of the fall sky. Suitable for general audience but not recommended for children five or younger. Free with admission to the Science Center. Friday, Nov. 10 " The Stories in Bones and Stones" 11: 30 a. m. to - 12: 30 p. m. Kari Baker of the Tech Museum of Geology uses fossils, modern bones, and pictures to tell a fossil story for the entire family. The program will include Baker's experience as a paleontologist, as well as how you tell the difference between meat and planting eating dinosaur teeth, the difference between vertebrate and invertebrate animals, the collecting tools of the paleontologist, and how paleontologists collect fossils. Free with admission. " Take on a Champion" 5: 30 p. m. to 8 p. m. Chess Master Nels Truelson will conduct a strategy clinic and play up to 24 simultaneous games. Saturday, Nov. 11 The Southwest Middle School Hawks Chess Club, Tech and the Children's Science Center are sponsoring a chess tournament from 7: 30 a. m. to 6 p. m. The tournament will be at Surbeck Center on the Tech campus. The tournament is open to novice as well as expert players. There will be divisions for children from kindergarten through 12th grade.
