TranscriptNovember 7, 2000 Children's Science Center The South Dakota School of Mines and Technology Children's Science Center, 515 West Blvd., Rapid City, has scheduled the following events. All events are open to the public. Admission is $ 3. Children under age 2 are admitted free. School group admission is $ 2 for each person with one free adult admission for every 10 children. Admission is free for members of the museum or of another museum that belongs to the Association of Science and Technology Centers. - Friday, Nov. 10: The Stories in Bones and Stones, 11: 30 a. m. to 12: 30 p. m. Kari Baker of the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology Museum of Geology will use fossils, modern bones and photographs to tell a story for an entire family of fossils. The program will include Baker's experience as a paleontologist and you will learn how to tell the difference between meat- and planting- eating dinosaur teeth, the difference between vertebrate and invertebrate animals, paleontology tools and how paleontologists collect fossils. The program is free with admission. - Friday, Nov. 10: Take on a Chess Champion, 5: 30 p. m. to 8 p. m. Chess Master Nels Truelson of Sioux Falls will conduct a strategy clinic and play up 24 simultaneous games against the first 24 students who register. Register by calling Eric Abrahamson at 391- 1048. Refreshments will be served. Free. - Saturday, Nov. 11: Veteran's Day Scholastic Chess Tournament, 7: 30 a. m. to 6 p. m., South Dakota School of Mines and Technology Surbeck Center. The tournament is open to novice as well as expert players. There will be divisions for children from kindergarten through 12th grade. For information, stop by the Children's Science Center for registration materials, call Eric Abrahamson at 391- 1048 or emial him at eric@ prologuegroup. com. Cost is $ 12. The Southwest Middle School Hawks Chess Club, Tech, and the Children's Science Center are sponsoring the tournament. - Saturday, Nov. 11: Animal Antics, 10: 30 a. m. Live animal program. Free with admission.
