Close to 2, 000 alumni, family and friends of the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology ( SDSM& T) are expected to return to Rapid City for the SDSM& T All School Reunion. A variety of activities are planned for the three- day event including campus tours, fraternity and sorority open houses, a 1963 Corvette raffle, and of course the traditional M- Hill climb. It all begins Wednesday, July 5 with pre- registration and a meeting of the SDSM& T Alumni Association Board and Area Vice President's. Highlights of the reunion include tunnel activities and the all- class social on the 6th; the Hardrock Club's Dud King Golf Classic, and reunion picnic and Corvette Raffle on the 7th; and the pancake breakfast, M- Hill climb, and Reunion Banquet on the 8th. The returning alumni will be greeted with a surprise when night falls – the lighting of the " M" on M- Hill. A project to light M- Hill was completed last week, and the " M", along with the adjacent " S" and " D", are now a nightly beacon to areas residents and returning alumni. The SDSM& T Alumni Association coordinated the project that included more than a year of planning and work by many local alumni, businesses, students and faculty, just in time to welcome back nearly 2000 alumni and friends to the five- year All- School Reunion, July 6, 7, & 8, 2000.
