St. Joseph Street • Rapid City, SD 57701- 3995 Phone: ( 605) 394- 6082/ 2554 • Fax: ( 605) 394- 6177 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE April 27, 2000 LOCAL STUDENTS RECEIVE AWARDS AT SDSM& T HONORS CONVOCATION During the 49th Annual Honors Convocation held Thursday, March 30, at the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology ( SDSM& T), Brent Scheele and Molly Mackey of Belle Fourche received awards. Scheele, a junior, civil and environmental engineering major, received the Student Association Outstanding Representative Award, and Mackey, a senior, chemistry major received an award for graduating in 2000 with highest honors ( GPA of 3.80 or higher). The Honors Convocation is held to present awards to students, faculty, and friends of SDSM& T in recognition of their outstanding service and academic achievements. A total of 115 awards were given out to students, faculty, and friends. The award categories included Academic Achievement; Leadership Awards in athletics; Outstanding Greek Award; Drama; Non- Traditional Student; Student Association; Fraternity & Sororities; Tech Activities Award; Seniors Graduating in 2000 With Highest Honors; Departmental Awards; Frank and Marilyn Richardson Scholars; Mines Award For Outstanding Public Service; Mines Award For Outstanding Teaching; AISES Award For Outstanding Teaching; Benard A.
