This will be the third annual " Matters of the Heart: Health and Wellness Expo" at Tech. Last year over 50 booths with health information, activities, healthy snacks, prizes, and health screenings were featured. Many student and community organizations will be participating in this year's Expo. Visitors will be able to gather information about donating blood; pain management; alcohol and drug abuse; conducting breast and testicular cancer self- exams; strength testing; information on natural vitamins and minerals; and view health testing displays. The School of Mines residence assistants alcohol task force will use " beer goggles" to demonstrate how one reacts while drinking, and Alpha Delta Pi Sorority will lead Valentine making. Snacks, prizes and give- aways add an extra incentive to attend the festivities, yet the real benefit will be obtaining free health screenings and consultations. The Expo, scheduled to take place in the Surbeck Ballroom, is open to Tech faculty, staff, students, as well as the local community. Local middle school, high school, and colleges have been invited to attend. Organizations who have committed to help include Counseling Services, USD nurses, City/ County Alcohol and Drug Program, Clinical Labs of the Black Hills, HERBS, Black Hills Rehab Hospital, and United Blood Services.
