Wood of Custer was a candidate for a Bachelor of Science degree with high honors* in interdisciplinary sciences from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. SDSM& T's 140th commencement ceremony was held December 18th in the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center Theater. Dr. Theodore Gull, Astrophysicist at the NASA Laboratory for Astronomy and Solar Physics at the Goddard Space Flight Center, gave the commencement address. Dr. Gull was presented with an honorary Doctor of Science degree during the ceremony. Special honored guests also included recipients of the Distinguished Alumni Award, Frank F. Aplan ( MetE ' 48), James V. Chittick ( ChemE ' 63), William L. Reuter ( EE ' 56, MS EE ' 58), Peter N. Stephans ( EE ' 68, MS EE ' 69), and Gary R. Veurink ( ChemE ' 72).
