St. Joseph Street Rapid City, SD 57701- 3995 Phone: ( 605) 394- 6082/ 2554 Fax: ( 605) 394- 6177 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE September 10, 1999 CU GRADUATES ACCEPT POSITIONS AT SDSM& T Dr. Kerri Vierling and Mrs. Kari Danenhauer- Larese recently accepted positions at the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology ( SDSM& T) in Rapid City. Vierling accepted a position as Assistant Professor of Biology, and Larese accepted a position as Public Information Manager at Tech. Vierling earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Colorado College, and an MA and Ph. D. from the University of Colorado, Boulder in Environmental, Population, and Organismic Biology. Larese earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from CU in 1996. In their new positions Vierling will be responsible for teaching a variety of biology courses including ecology, environmental science, and anatomy/ physiology, and Larese will be responsible for producing press releases, editing the campus newspaper, writing articles for the campus magazine, and developing advertising copy. Vierling most recently worked at SDSM& T as a temporary hire biologist from September 1998 May 1999. She previously worked as a Wildlife Biologist with the City of Boulder Open Space Department, and taught the Conservation Biology course at the CU Mountain Research Station in July 1999. Larese came to Tech from San Diego where she worked in the public relations department of Scripps a healthcare provider, and previously from Washington where she worked as a reporter for the Tacoma Daily Index. The South Dakota School of Mines & Technology has established a world- wide reputation as an outstanding engineering and science institution.
