St. Joseph Street Rapid City, SD 57701- 3995 Phone: ( 605) 394- 6082/ 2554 Fax: ( 605) 394- 6177 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE September 14, 1999 FOUR NATIVE AMERICAN STUDENTS RECIPIENTS OF SCHOLARSHIPS AT SDSM& T Four Native American students at the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology ( SDSM& T) have been sponsored this year as they pursue their degrees in Science and Engineering. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Kruse, of Minneapolis/ St. Paul, have concurred with the School of Mines scholarship committee's recommendation to fund the four students. The students are Robert Whipple, Rapid City, senior, Civil and Environmental Engineering; Connie Giroux, Rapid City, junior, Chemistry; J. R. High Elk, Dupree, sophomore, Civil and Environmental Engineering; and Lonnie Wright, Eagle Butte, sophomore, Industrial Engineering.
