St. Joseph Street Rapid City, SD 57701- 3995 Phone: ( 605) 394- 6082/ 2554 Fax: ( 605) 394- 6177 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ( April 12, 1999) STUDENTS FROM AREA SCHOOLS TO COMPETE IN SDSM& T SCIENCE FAIR On Thursday, April 15 students from area schools will compete in the 1999 South Dakota School of Mines and Technology ( SDSM& T) Annual Science Fair. Generally 100+ students participate in the competition which lasts from 9: 00 am to 3: 45 pm. An awards ceremony will be held in the Electrical Engineering/ Physics/ Computation Center Rm. 252 at 3: 15 pm. Students take written examinations in four areas: chemistry, biology, earth science, and physics. First, second, and third place individual winners will be chosen on the basis of the highest scores in each contest. Team winners will be selected on the basis of the highest scoring team for each contest. Schools will be split in two divisions: high schools of 500 students or more and high schools of less than 500 students. Individual team prizes and trophies will be awarded.
