St. Joseph Street • Rapid City, SD 57701- 3995 Phone: ( 605) 394- 6082/ 2554 • Fax: ( 605) 394- 6177 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ( April 27, 1999) LOCAL STUDENT IS HONORED AT ROTC MILITARY BALL & AWARDS CEREMONY Cadet Jeremy Bryan of Platte was honored at the Reserve Officer Training Corps ( ROTC) Military Ball and Awards Ceremony held Friday evening, April 23, 1999. The event was held to honor graduating seniors from the Mount Rushmore Battalion and to recognize the achievements of cadets from South Dakota School of Mines & Technology ( SDSM& T) and Black Hills State University ( BHSU). Bryan is a sophomore at SDSM& T majoring in Interdisciplinary Studies. The American Legion Academic Award was presented to Bryan. The academic award is given to the cadet who has met the stringent requirements for academic achievement, demonstrated leadership qualities, and has been active in a variety of student activities. Other award winners included Cadet Shawn Steele ( BHSU), recipient of the George C. Marshall Leadership Excellence Award, the Retired Officer Association Award, and the Pete Lien Memorial Award; Cadet Cadets LeAnn Gunn ( Jr, CHEM, Shadehill) and Adam Grein ( BHSU), recipients of the American Legion Military Excellence Award; Cadet Tyler Ehlers ( Jr, ME, Letcher), recipient of the National Sojourners Award; Cadet Stacey trezona ( BHSU) recipient of the Daughters of the American Revolution Award; Cadets Eric Harris ( Fr, EE, Batesland) and Adam Godsell ( BHSU) recipients of the Sons of the American Revolution Award; and Cadet Jason Ballard ( Jr, IS, Box Elder) recipient of the Retired Officer Association Award. ++ 30++ [ Photo caption: ROTC Cadet Jeremy Bryan receives the American Legion Academic Award at the Military Ball & Awards Ceremony held April 23.] ( I: univrel/ pressrel 0499 military ball local Platte) |
